R2-D2 Play-Doh Unpainted Hardcopy | |
This R2-D2 prototype from the Play-Doh Hoth Action Set is classified as an unpainted hardcopy. Unpainted hardcopies of this nature served to aid in the generation of steel production tooling. This particular example was likely unused due to the prevalence of casting flaws caused by small air pocket formation within the silicone mold during casting.
The hardcopy is cast in a grey pigmented urethane giving it a different visual appearance from the more familiar carbalon and dynacast materials.
The final image shows a number of unpainted Play-Doh hardcopies, which surfaced amongst other prototypes from the collection of an ex-Kenner employee in February, 2006. |
