Carbalon
A casting agent very similar to Dynacast, a
two-part urethane compound that when mixed would harden inside a silicone mold
to produce a hard positive hardcopy. The
carbalon hardcopy could then be painted to be used as a paint master,
or remain unpainted and used for tooling as a tooling
master. While Dynacast was used primarily for pieces produced in
1981 and beyond, carbalon was the former compound of choice for
hardcopies. It is found on a large number of pre-1982 hardcopies and on
a few Micro Collection 4-Up hardcopies. Carbalon's main identifying
feature is its brown or tanish color.
