French collectors Stephane Faucourt and Geoffrey Monfort have
managed to collect a wide range of advertising material from'70s
and '80s French toy licensee, Meccano. They've been kind enough
to allow us to include a selection of their collection in this
gallery. For the most part, the documents included here can be
broken up into three categories--full-page magazine advertisements,
small-scale collectible character advertisements released in a
series of 36, and many different chronologically-arranged scenes
featuring Meccano toys posed in action scenes (17 of which are
featured here). As a group, the documents are tremendously inventive
in their graphics and are often very humorous in their presentation;
some even include photos of prototype toys, which I don't believe
have ever been published anywhere else. The majority of these
advertisements come from French children's magazines, such as
Pif Gadget, and are considered quite scarce even in France.
