A brochure we picked up promoting Tunisia as a filming location spends a bit of time touting Tunisia's remarkable sky. Looking at these photos, I would have to agree. As much fun as we had wandering the set that day, there was a quality to the place that I did not pick up until I looked at our photos.

Some parts of the set bore a remarkable resemblance to other sites we'd visited, such as Ksar Hadada, though blessedly free of the tourist hoardes.

There were a few, very large set decorations left around. Mostly big things that looked like leftover pieces of 'vaporators.

At one point, we spotted some extremely heavy pieces which resembled space junk. Word is that a Watto's junk yard in Mos Espa will have a prominent role in the new films.

And of course, what would a Star Wars movie be without a Gonk Power Droid...

For the most part, though, it's difficult, though tempting, to induce what role this set will serve in the upcoming film.
