SARLACC Goes to Comic Con

Since there is as yet no official Star Wars convention, Comic Con International, which is held every summer in San Diego, has become a sort of unofficial SW con. Last year at the Con, SW freaks were treated to a one time only screening of the legendary "Biggs footage" from ANH. Also in years past, the Con was the place where Hasbro first unveiled several new POTF2 figures, such as Leia Slave and the Luke Bespin figure with the cool removable hand.

Although this "pre-Prequel" year was relatively light on Star Wars content, the Con was still well worth the trip from Seattle. If nothing else, San Diego has one of the most INCREDIBLE dealer floor I've ever seen. Except where noted, these pictures were provided by Garry Pedersen. Thanks, Gar!

Moo!
Attendees wait in lines reminiscent of cattle holding pens. There seems to be a great Con tradition of holding people in long, unnecessary lines. If you squint, you can see Lauren (in the red cap) and Deanna Bock in the middle background.
Waiting
Richard Glass and Brandon Browning (middle) can't wait to get out on to the dealer floor!
Don Post's booth
I want that Big Boba, dammit!
On the Mezzanine
Time to take a break from the dealer floor, and eat some of that yummy overpriced concession food! Going around the table: Lauren Bock (in his trusty red cap), Deanna Bock, Richard Glass, Brandon Browning, Gus Lopez, the back of Pamela Green's head.
Getting hungry
The same crew, still waiting for Greg. :-) Around the table: Pam, Gus, the back of Brandon's head, Richard, Deanna and Lauren showing off a recent purchase.
Who's scruffy looking?
Steve Sansweet gets some "help" at a signing at the Collector's Empire booth. Thanks to Michael Wistock for the photo. T-shirts by Michael, Chris Reiff and Chris Trevas.
Scruffy T
The next fashion rage? Gus shows off his "scruff-wear" to some skeptical club members. L-R: Gus, Brandon, Richard (looking doubtful) and Pam.
East meets West
Immediately after Comic Con, our intrepid photographer, Garry Pedersen, headed out east to see that cool Star Wars exhibit at the Smithsonian. Here, Garry crashes a New England Star Wars Collectors Club meeting. Thanks to Ron Salvatore for the photo.
