Star Wars 20-Back Death Squad Commander Pilot-run
This is the standard Death Squad Commander action figure on its French Meccano square-card format packaging as shown here used in France by Meccano for Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back products action figures 1979 to 1982.

However this particular item is a 'PILOT RUN' from May 1982. It's a standard production item pulled from the very first batches at the factory for quality control and marketing purposes.

The sticker gives 2 interesting hints. First, the date of 1982 for that figure already available on that very packaging since 1979; which means it was a reissue to fulfill the demand. Second, the sequence number 1/82 - one could think that 82 figures were pulled from the line, but it looks to be a generic number, as ALL 'pilot-run' square card that surfaced so far, from SW/ESB lines, pulled at different dates, are always marked as "1".

A few Meccano square cards surfaced over the years through former Meccano employees, they are seldom seen, as the current count is around 10 different figures among the SW and ESB lines; a few have also shown up on 12" action figures with a different sticker.
