Catalog Description:

STAR WARS: RETURN OF THE JEDI
MINI-RIGS VEHICLES

Now there are two great new vehicles in the MINI-RIGS collection. The new ISP-6 (IMPERIAL SHUTTLE POD) is always ready to provide fast transport for the Imperial forces from their shuttle to other bases of operation. It's rear viewing mirror and movable wing cannons are indispensible when under Rebel attack. Both vehicles hold one action figure.

Description:
Remember those coin-operated ride-on toys that used to sit outside of your local drug store? Or maybe you remember them at the mall or amusement park. That's what the ISP-6 has always reminded me of: It's the Star Wars galaxy equivalent of the coin-operated ride-on, made in emulation of the Imperial Shuttle. Star Wars galaxy youngsters, like that weird little Rodian guy in Episode I, could pop in their credit coins, hop in and enjoy the ride.

I'm kidding, of course, but something about the scale of this toy never quite seemed correct to me. Sure, the fact that it looks like the Imperial Shuttle meant that it was cooler than a lot of the other mini-rigs, but its proportions made it look kind of awkward-- sort of like how a midget looks awkward.

The ISP-6 was issued in 1983 as one of two new Return of the Jedi mini-rigs. The 1984 package features four mini-rigs on its reverse.

First Issued: 1983 (ROTJ packaging, 6 mini-rigs on reverse)
Re-issues: 1984 (ROTJ packaging, 4 mini-rigs on reverse)
