The Power of the Force
Proof Cards

Proof cards exist for each Star Wars figure never released on a POTF card, even those not included in the 1985 Toy Fair catalog. It is believed that there were proof cards produced for each of the 93 Star Wars figures, including Yak Face. Approximately thirty of these proofs are believed to be one-of-a-kind. Of the rest, there are less than ten, probably closer to between three and five, of each character known to be in existence. In addition, there exists a 93 back U.S. proof for Yak Face, where he finally appears for the first time on any card back.

Logray Proof CardWhile it is, of course, impossible to place a price tag on pieces with such a limited availability, Power of the Force proof cards sell for $1000 or more on the rare occasions they do show up on the open market.

All proof cards vary from their production counterparts in two ways; the bottom corners are squared off instead of rounded, and the hanger hole area is a bit farther to the left than on production cards.

Beyond these obvious differences, there are other variations between production and proof Power of the Force cards. Firstly, not only is the hanger punch area farther to the left, but is also shaped entirely differently on POTF proofs, with a larger, ballooned peg area. Secondly, the cardstock itself is different, and of a much thinner, fragile material. There is also less of a gloss on the front of the proof cards when compared to production examples. Then, of course, there are those cards, such as the pictured Logray, that show a character never actually released on a Power of the Force card.
