| Stormtrooper 4-up Silicone Mold (583-023) | |
| The prototype shown above offers great insight into the production process of the Micro line.
This silicone mold
was created to produce
4-up hardcopies for one of the
Stormtroopers (583-023) found in the Death Star Escape playset. The mold itself is
created directly from the original wax
sculpt, which is created at a
4:1 ratio. During the creation of the 4-up,
the mold halves are joined and urethane is hand poured through a channel in the mold bottom.
Once the urethane hardens the two mold halves are parted in order to remove the 4up.
Jeff has a nice run going for this particular stormtrooper pose. Take note of the production size pieces accompanying the mold in the picture. From left to right we see: unpainted micro, painted production micro, and an unpainted squeezing. These are a only few of the many intriguing Micro collection prototypes found in Jeff's collection. |
