| Obi Wan Kenobi 4-up Hardcopy Paint Master (517-017) | |
| Showcased here is an hand-painted Obi Wan Kenobi 4-up.
Ben is designated by the number 517-017. This prototype may also be referred to as a
paintmaster.
The first three digits represent the
Death Star Compactor playset,
while the last three indicate the particular character/pose. Ben was only available in one pose and is found only
in the Death Star Compactor playset. That fact makes this Ben 4-up all the more unique and the handpainted detail looks
quite striking as well!
Here we see a nice rear view of the 4-up showing the nice detail of the cloak.
Above we see a very nice run showing various phases of the production process necessary to bring the Obi Wan Kenobi 4-up from concept to production toy. In the background you'll notice early conceptual art for the character. This art was once part of a larger art board and has been seperated from the original full board. In front of the art we see the paintmaster 4-up along with a matching unpainted 4-up which can be seen separately here. The run is rounded out by an assemblage of 1:1 pieces. From left to right one can see: Gold micro, Production micro w/o saber, Production micro w/ saber, and hand painted micro. |
