| Rebel Soldier Micro Silicone Mold (463-015) | |
| The prototype shown above offers great insight into the production process of the Micro line.
This silicone mold
was created to produce
4-up hardcopies for one of the Rebel
Soldiers (463-015) found in the Hoth Turret Defense playset. The mold itself is created directly
from the original wax sculpt
, which is created at a 4:1 ratio. During the creation of the 4-up,
the mold halves are joined and urethane is hand poured through a channel, referred to as a "gate", in the mold bottom.
Once the urethane solidifies, the two mold halves are parted in order to remove the 4-up.
Here's a picture of the other half of the mold. A matching painted 4-up may be viewed here. |
