| Gummy droids? Fruity Jedi? Though at first glance they appear to be some kind of Star Wars-themed gummy candy, these are actually colorful plastic toys put out by Japan's Maruka Toy Company. This bag contains quite a few of the toys, comprising at least 8 different designs (C3PO, R2-D2, Millenium Falcon, Y-wing, X-wing and TIE fighters, Landspeeder, and an escape pod from the Rebel Blockade Runner) and about 10 different colors, each of which comes in both opaque and clear variants. I believe these also came packed individually as a premium of some sort and that there exists a Star Destroyer, which is the rare "chase" figure of the set. One can only guess at the rationale behind offering so many of them in this format. Just what does a child do with an army of 11/2" tall C3POs? 20 years down the road, however, its the weirdness that makes these fun. |
