Although these prop pieces were found miles away from the prequel filming sites, they were at one time used on these sets to give the look and feel of the town of Mos Espa. The props were located over 40 km away in neighboring towns and were being used by locals for household items and spare parts. Many of them were not aware that these items were used in a motion picture.
This piece above consists of painted car parts and was
part of the decor
of Mos Espa. Its role in the movie is uncertain (a vent?, door opener?), but it is one of my favorite
prop pieces from our Tunisia visit. The detail and craftsmanship make this
piece stand out among many of the others.
This is the end piece of a large type of crate prop that was
used extensively on the Mos Espa set. Originally, I had planned to take
home an entire crate, but those plans changed once I saw how large and
heavy these pieces were in person. Even this end cap piece was
difficult to bring home.
These rectangular pieces were also used extensively on Mos Espa set decorations, mostly
on crates found in fruit stand tents and along the perimeter of various
vehicles.
The piece is made from a thin plastic material that is painted brown to
give it a Tatooine desert appearance. The plastic piece is originally
black.
This is quite an unusual piece I found among other Episode I props. On one side, it's a piece of circuit board, but the other side is covered in plastic and painted brown, similar to other Tatooine props. The strange part is that the electronics aren't visible from the painted side. I have no clue what this was
used for or where is appears, but I had it thrown in on a deal with
many other prequel props.
