Basically, a bootleg is any Star Wars item produced and sold without a license from Lucasfilm. Consequently, bootleg items are frequently also referred to as "unlicensed." The most famous bootleg Star Wars collectibles are, without question, the several series of action figures produced in Eastern Europe, such as the Uzay line of Turkey. But bootlegs of nearly every type of Star Wars collectible have been released over the last 20+ years, from cheap vending machine trinkets to high-end replica movie props. Collectors usually seek out bootleg items not because they've been fooled into believing their legit, but simply because they get a kick out of their weirdness. Although it might seem odd, in the eyes of many collectors, the lower in quality a bootleg is, the more interesting and more desirable it becomes.
