Empire Strikes Back Leia Hoth Kenner Meccano toy fair
This particular action figure on card comes from a former French licensee MECCANO marketing director. It was part of a lot that included a dozen Palitoy and two Kenner carded figures, surfaced in 2019 from the original owner.

Those carded figures were used for display at the French 1981 toy fair, supplied by Palitoy marketing division, and used by the Miro-Meccano marketing department for presentation purposes before the products in French packaging were ready. They were all originally opened for the show and resealed with tape after use.

The detail that allows to differ those cards from a regular retailed counterpart is the handwritten inscription in the silver racetrack corresponding to the Meccano assortment number of the toy in the annual catalog, aimed at retailers and distributors for ordering purposes. This is particularly interesting of marketing techniques as unlike other countries, figures in foreign packaging were seldom used in France for display or in catalogs, and were never sold at retail.
