| This is the original art for Jim Rumph's 1977 Christmas card envelope. As you might be aware, Jim is famous for creating the Chewbacca, Vader, and Obi-Wan mugs for California Originals along with a large number of ceramic items (mugs, bongs, etc.) based on his unique style. For Christmas 1977, he created a Star Wars themed envelope with Chewbacca, C-3PO, Obi-Wan, and R2-D2 as the three (four?) kings arriving at Bethlehem along with a Close Encounters themed card. Rumph sent these cards to celebrities and industry leaders at the time but these cards are extremely difficult to find today. This painting was made by Rumph at 2x the scale of the actual envelopes. |
