| Droids C-3PO Case Boxed (Catalog sample) | |
| This is a boxed version of the
unproduced Droids series C-3PO
case.
There are two versions of the boxed Droids C-3PO case, with one example of each known to exist: one that was featured in Kenner Toy Fair catalog photography (i.e. the 1986 Kenner Pre-Toy Fair Catalog), and one that was used for display at Toy Fair. Both are packaging mockups and not final product samples.
The prototype Droids C-3PO cases also occur as variants. One version is bright yellow and lacks sculpted details in the eyes and forehead. The other version of the case has textured eyes and a greeblie on the forehead, and the color is a mustard yellow. The one pictured here is the sample used for catalog photography in the 1985 Pre-Toy Fair Catalog with the mustard yellow version of the C-3PO case. The illustrations are pasted onto the cardboard. The front of the box shows portions of the packaging that were planned for the final product that never reached market. |
