Here are various pieces hand-drawn by Ralph McQuarrie for the design of the Vader in flames crew patch for The Empire Strikes Back. The first image is a large drawing providing the details, specifications, logo, and colors to be used. Note the light blue halo around Vader's helmet. The second image with three items includes a color sketch of the original patch design with the blue halo and shorter layout, accompanied by the early version of the patch (blue halo and no TM), followed by the final crew patch. The third image is a sketch explaining the changes to stretch the layout. The fourth image is a color guide for the patch, although still containing the light blue halo. Finally, the last image is a small color thumbnail concept sketch by Ralph McQuarrie. |
