'The Force Beam' bootleg french flyer | |
The 'Force Beam' bootleg lightsaber as shown here was also released in France in 1978. Those toys have surface from time to time over the years, but this flyer aimed to professionals of the toy industry is a premiere and it confirms once for all the true availability of this bootleg toy in France. As mentioned in the flyer (nearly the size of a European A4 format), it was available from April 1978 in a 24-sabers point of sale display from KAMLAG France. The pitch says 'the best-selling scifi toy in the U.S. for the past months is going to conquer the french toy market, your market...' also that 'more than a million items were sold in 8 weeks in the U.S.' As a further proof of audacity, the company was located in Metz, which was just a few miles from one of Meccano's (official licensee for the toys in France) main facility. |
