Dagobah Matte Study by Ralph McQuarrie | |
This is known as a matte study, used by the artist, Ralph McQuarrie, to plan the artwork for a Dagobah matte painting used in The Empire Strikes Back. It was created by taking a photograph from a scene shot in Elstree Studios, and then McQuarrie painted the trees and vines above Luke and R2 to give the dense appearance of the bog planet. McQuarrie then used this matte study as a guide for the final matte painting. |
