Original Wax Sculptings for Kea Moll Action Figure | |
Before Rey there was Kea Moll, a female character from the short-lived "Droids" cartoon series. Here you see several of the original sculptings used to generate the Kea action figure.
The tentacles of her weird over-the-shoulder mullet have broken off of the sculpt. Unfortunately, that tends to happen with these things, as they're fragile and often stored under less-than-ideal conditions. Nevertheless, I think you can see how much finer the detail is on the sculpt when compared to the production head.
Here are the arms. Note that the sculpts are slightly larger than production. This is normal. The injection-molding process introduces shrinkage, which means that production parts are always smaller than their sculpt and hardcopy counterparts. I'd say more about this item, but I'd rather direct you to Tommy Garvey's excellent piece on the process behind the development of this figure, which an be found on our blog here. |
