Unproduced Jawa Puzzle Mock-Up | |
This is a hand-drawn conceptual Jawa puzzle mock-up, which was probably done very early on while Kenner was rushing to get Star Wars product on store shelves. Some of the first Kenner branded items released were puzzles, so it's interesting to see pieces like this, since they could have been some of the earliest work done by the company on their new brand.
It's also neat to see the different layout for "Star Wars," in that on the production puzzle boxes, the name was not made a part of the classic racetrack border, as is seen here. According to Sean, the puzzle appears to be "done on thick paper, laid over cardboard, and shrink wrapped. The lines for where the puzzle pieces would be were drawn with pressure, and as such, give the “pieces” of the puzzle some texture." |
