Palitoy Action Figures Store Display Poster | |
Palitoy store display material is pretty scarce, especially for the early years of the Star Wars line. This poster was issued to retailers to advertise the arrival of the Kenner-designed action figures, six of which appear on the piece. The slogan "the toys of the film" is pretty interesting. It seems intended to remind consumers that these items are officially connected to the blockbuster movie. You'd never see that today, now that movie merchandizing is so commonplace.
Although Kenner did issue a poster intended to advertise a Return of the Jedi sweepstakes, the American company didn't create anything like this. The only comparable piece is the theatrical "birthday" poster, which featured 11 of the original 12 figures standing around a birthday cake. |
