| R2-D2 Study Cast for A New Hope | |
| This cast was made for the pre-production of Star Wars: A New Hope, annotated with various measurements in ink and pencil and used to create the aluminum R2-D2 heads that were featured in the first movie. Peteric Ltd. was the vendor that made the aluminum R2-D2 heads for the film. They were given this cast by John Stears, special production and mechanical effects supervisor, as reference for the screen-used R2 domes. Seven R2-D2s were completed by Peteric for the film based on this cast. |
