Unlicensed Ceramic Handle Mugs
Mugs were among the earliest licensed Star Wars items, so it's only natural that unlicensed versions proliferated. The examples spotlighted on this page are similar in several respects, so I've lumped them into a single entry. I refer to them as "handle" mugs, as the handles tend to be formed or detailed in distinctive ways. My guess is that they were all created as part of a rough "set." At the top of the page you'll see an example representing Darth Vader. It's derived from the head of one of the Vader lamps seen here. The handle on this one looks to have been based on the one found on the Rumph tankard, but the one on the below Vader mug, which as somewhat similar detailing, is very reminiscent of the other mugs seen on this page.

Maybe this Vader mug is part of the "set" and the one at the top of the page isn't? I'm not sure, and, honestly, I don't want to think too hard about it.

Here's the C-3PO. It's painted yellow and features a series of dents on the handle that matches the detailing around the character's face.

As was the case with the Vader mug, the Chewbacca is based on the "DJ Chewie" lamp. The handle detail is simple yet definitely Star Wars-y.

The handle of the R2-D2 is pretty nondescript. However, the overall character of the mug is very reminiscent of the others featured on this page.
