Emperor's Royal Guard POTF Coin Plaster Positive | |
Popular with some collectors while not so much with others, the 6:1 POTF, Droids, and Ewoks coin
prototypes afford collectors a glimpse into the extensive production process used to create their
production counterparts. The plaster coin shown above features a raised, or positive, image on the face.
Collectors familiar with the coin production process, located
here if it's new or you simply want a refresher, will also recall that an
original sculpting and
softcopy both contain positive relief images.
Plaster positives do not represent an integral step in the coin production process
itself, however they originally served as back-ups to ensure that new tooling master
generation was feasible had the original tooling master sustained damage.
The final image shows a close-up look at the detailed portion of the plaster positive. |
