Empire Strikes Back 41-Back Sand People
Here we have a carded Sand People on its first Spanish release dating back from 1981, a 41(37)-back horizontal card, unique to Poch, with the EL IMPERIO CONTRAATACA and POCH logos on front and back.

Most of the Spanish early figures were released on these cardbacks. Only a handful of characters were actually sold a few months earlier on the 31-back horizontal cardback.

Spanish EL IMPERIO CONTRAATACA figures are much rarer and are found in much shorter numbers than most of the figures released by other international Kenner licensees.

This particular R5-D4 is truly one of a kind, especially in such pristine condition. The cardback actually depicts only 37 figures on its back. Although the figures are numbered up to 41 on top and bottom, numbers 2, 4, 10 and 16 were excluded from the list, corresponding to the four Cantina Aliens (Snaggletooth, Greedo, Hammerhead and Walrus Man) which for some strange reason were never released on 41-back cards. There is enough evidence though that they were later released on 45-back PBP cardbacks.

Also featured below is the 41-backing card, which is notorious for this horizontal layout and amazing illustrations.
