Empire Strikes Back 48-Back 4-LOM (offer-less) Proof Card
The elusive 48A or offerless 4-LOM cardback was originally thought to be an Australian exclusive release due to what was historically an abject lack of examples found in the US. The recent discovery of examples in North America indicates that like the Star Wars 21 back Stormtrooper, it probably did see limited release at retail.

Pictured here is the proof card for this exceedingly rare action figure.

It’s not apparent from the front, but the 48A back proof card actually differs slightly from the figure released in Australia. The Star Wars Collect All 48 Action Figures text on the rear is located right over where the punch would have been placed on this proof card. This text was altered on the Australian retail release so that the words Star Wars appeared on the top line by themselves.

The 4-LOM is also a very nice example of what’s commonly referred to as a sample style proof card – meaning it has 4 round corners, is on slightly heavier cardstock than the production figure and other proof cards, and no punch. It’s believed that all ESB examples of this type of proof card have only shown up as one-of-a-kind examples at this point in time.
