| As a big fan of Star Wars food promotions and Star Wars award items, I was thrilled with the opportunity to pick this up. Of course, when I showed it to a couple of people, they thought this was a missing prop from a Topps C-3PO card. This is the prestigious (I am told) Gravure Golden Cylinder award for use of the gravure printing process in various promotions and applications. The Star Wars Masterfoods promotion for Revenge of the Sith consisted of Star Wars themed M&M's, Skittles, and Kudos candy. The creativity of this promotion won it the golden cylinder.
The Gravure Association of America is a trade organization whose members use the gravure printing process, frequently for product packaging. The award itself weigh a ton as they literally gold plated an actual metal cylinder. |
