Painted Mock-Up for Preschool Ewoks Store Display | |
This large display (it's probably almost three feet long) is an early conceptual mock-up for a display issued by Kenner in 1984 to advertise its preschool line of products.
It's entirely hand-painted on a large piece of foam-core that's been meticulously cut out to approximate the intended shape of the display. It's so well made that it's almost impossible to tell its a mock-up from looking at these photos.
Here's a close-up that shows how much detailing went into the face of the Ewok. Nothing looking exactly like this was ever released. The production version ended up being double-sided, with Ewoks featured on one side and Strawberry Shortcake and Care Bears on the other. |
