Original Wax Sculpting for Micro Collection Princess Leia
This is the original wax sculpt for the Princess Leia figure from the Death Star Escape, a playset in the Micro Collection line. She's striking a rather pose, with both arms outstretched even as she's apparently firing her blaster. Actually, she looks a little like that famous Jesus statue from Rio de Janeiro...but with a gun.

It's composed of the standard pink wax that you find on a lot of Kenner toy sculpts. Actually, if you look around the shoulders and neck, you'll see the wax in those areas is even pinker than the surrounding material, which indicates the sculpt was repaired at some point in time. The nose and fingers appear to have been similarly restored. As for the blaster, it's composed of a tan-colored urethane.

Here you see two shots of the silicon mold used to make hardcopies of this figure.

As you might be aware (and if you aren't, check here and here), this figure was originally sculpted with a larger posterior, and it had be changed after Carrie Fisher objected. I'd say it's more than likely that these changes were made directly onto this figure by simply shaving down its butt. If only real life butt-shaping were so simple!

The figure is also known to have been completely re-worked after an initial sculpting attempt came up short.

A hardcopy of this early sculpt can be seen above along with several other pre-production examples of this figure I own. From left to right: hardcopy, painted hardcopy, sculpt, and alternate hardcopy. As I'm sure you can tell, the head was completely re-sculpted and the arms re-positioned. You can read more about this alternate Leia figure here.
