| Here you see one of the three Biker Scout figures planned to be released by Kenner in 1983 as part of a special figure promotion, which was probably a mail-away similar to the "Build Your Armies" set of 1982. The three Biker Scouts in the set would have been paired with three opposing Rebel Commando figures.
I've referred to this as a sculpt, and it does appear to have some sculpted detail. But it's mostly a cast, its contours being the result of wax being poured into a mold made off a rough clay sculpting. I think you can see that the details here are pretty rough.
Here you see a Kenner document referring to the planned mail-away offer. "R.R." is short for Rocketbike Rider, Rocketbike being an early internal title for the Speeder Bike. |
