| This is the plaque awarded to Meco for the Grammy nomination of his hit single, Star Wars Theme / Cantina Band, that dominated the airwaves during the summer of 1977. The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) nominates talented musicians for their annual Grammy awards, and nominees receive a plaque for this high honor of being nominated. Meco was nominated for the Best Instrumental Performance in Pop, Rock, and Folk. Although Meco's version of the Star Wars theme did not win the Grammy, it is the only pop instrumental to ever go platinum by the RIAA. |
