Snowspeeder Ride On Toy Concept Art | |
This original sketches are for a Snowspeeder Ride On toy that was designed by Kenner in 1979 for the upcoming release of The Empire Strikes Back. With the second film in the Star Wars saga, Kenner thinned the herd to the successful staples of small size action figures, ditching plans for all sorts of extensions to the Star Wars toy line, including this snowspeeder ride on toy. As can be seen in one of the sketches, the toy was designed to have a feature of a slide projector as illustrated by the TIE Fighter (the Kenner action figure version of the TIE Fighter!) projected on the wall. Hand-drawn sketches like this are frequently used by marketing to pitch a new product concept before going to a prototype or mock up stage. No three dimensional prototypes of this toy are known to exist today. |
