| Power Droid Early Prototype | |
| This is an early prototype for the Power Droid from the initial stages of design by Kenner. The only known photograph of this toy was a Kenner catalog issued in Germany in the late 1970's. Collectors have been hunting down this piece for years, but the path has always been cold. The only other second series prototype from the catalog that had surfaced was the Death Star Droid. This Power Droid was discovered recently by a former Kenner designer who cleaning out boxes in his attic. At one point this designer had the complete set of kit-bashed figures photographed for the Kenner catalog from Germany, but he had given most of the toys to his kids years ago and the pieces have since been lost or damaged. This is the only surviving prototype of that early Power Droid design. |
