Princess Leia Engineering Pilot
The action figure shown above doesn't visually differ much from a production figure. It's cast in production colors, sonic welded, contains copyright information and country of origin markins, and painted with production spray masks. Before anyone asks, the photo wasn't taken while Princess Leia was practicing field goal kicking. It was photographed in this pose to illustrate the "3" enscribed in marker onto the foot bottom. This characteristic shows the figure served as an engineering pilot, a fairly late stage example sent from the Orient to Kenner to show characteristics like: correct paint masks, proper molding, correct assembly, etc. The number likely designates this particular example amongst what was a larger figure batch at the time of its use. It's always important on a figure like this to ensure one is purchasing it from a reputable dealer or from someone with former Kenner contacts.
