Trilogo Jawa Carded Factory Sample | |
On July 7, 2006 K.R. Spencer announced an incredible find to vintage collectors by way of the
discussion forums found on
Rebelscum.com. The original thread may be viewed
here. The astounding find consisting of factory samples from General Mills contained a vast number
(approximately 70 pieces) of trilogo and ROTJ carded figures, boxed vehicles, and even diecast ships, many
featuring adhesive sample stickers applied to the card fronts. The sample
stickers range in size from small to large with some figures lacking any stickers whatsoever. While
the stickers themselves represent the most unique characteristic of these carded figures, the superb
card and bubble condition on many samples is equally noteworthy. It's utterly amazing that the former
General Mills employee had the foresight to save this impressive collection and at the same time
care for it all these years in a manner which preserved condition. Thankfully K.R. Spencer uncovered
the incredible collection and as a result has enabled collectors all over the world to view these
factory samples.
Anyone who's ever endeavored to add a trilogo carded Jawa will personally attest to the absolute maddening rarity of this particular Jawa incarnation. Considering the crisp card condition and the presence of the previously mentioned factory sample label---well, you're looking at an uber super duper rarity! Rumor has it that Jawa afficiandos, Chris Nichols and Jason West, are planning an arm wrestling contest at Celebration IV to decide which collector truly deserves this piece should it ever leave K.R.'s hands, but I'm not one to gossip, so you didn't hear that from me! |
