| This is the holy grail of Star Wars lunch box items. It's a prototype of an unproduced R2-D2 lunch pail that was planned for release by King-Seeley Thermos (the licensee for the Star Wars metal lunch boxes) in the late 1970's.
For reasons unknown, this item was never released to the public, but a handful of these prototypes were features in retailer literature and have surfaced on the secondary market. R2's head unzips to expose a food storage area, a clever application of a Star Wars character into a product design—it's surprising this was never released on the market. |
