| Pictured here is the Luke Skywalker figure packed onto a French 'La guerre des étoiles' 20-back square card.
The name was changed to 'LUC' for the french market since this is how the firstname is spelled (the original 'LUKE' name was used initially on earlier 12-back cards). This packaging was used in France on the same card format from 1979 to 1982, unlike some other countries, Meccano kept releasing Star Wars characters on Star Wars (GDE) square cards even during the Empire line. It was then released successively on Meccano's Return of Jedi 45-backs and 65-backs. Last but not least, because of their lower quality, and also because they were damaged during the factory shrinkwraping process, seeing a mint Meccano card is always a delight, epsecially for a very rare one like this one. |
