Star Wars 1977/78 UK Woolworth's Standee | |
This standee was allegedly used at a Woolworth's store in London sometime in late 1977 or '78. It is printed on heavy cardstock and includes a fold-out easel on the reverse. There is no copyright information printed anywhere on the display, which probably suggests it was produced in small numbers in an unofficial capacity.
It's interesting to note that the manufacturer appears to have literally cropped up a Star Wars Style "C" quad poster for use on this display. Note the lower crop points occur right where the text would have infringed on the image area. This display measures 23 inches wide by 25 inches tall. A display with some similar attributes (from the UK, printed on heavy cardstock with easel, no copyright info) was also printed for The Empire Strikes Back, and may have also been used in a similar department store setting. That display can be viewed here. |
