General Mills Cereal Star Wars Kite Offer Display | |
This is one of my favorite Star Wars store displays of all time, the General Mills Kite Offer display promoting a special mail in premium for Count Chocula, Franken Berry, Boo Berry, Trix, Lucky Charms, and Cocoa Puffs in 1978. When assembled, the display features a cardboard cut out of the large triangular Star Wars mail-away kite, one of two designs offered in this promotion. The other kite was a traditional diamond-shaped kite.
This display came with 9 shelf talkers with tear off forms for the kite offer. The kites were sent free with three box bottoms from any of the six featured General Mills cereals.
The triangular kite is also featured on the shelf talker, and each shelf talker comes with two pads to mail away for the kite. Nine shelf talkers were packed in the shipping box to allow the grocery story to replenish supplies as sheets were torn off.
The shipping box prominently denotes the Star Wars Kite Offer Display along with the item #.
Here are all the unassembled pieces together. The two cardboard poles interconnect and are threaded through the back of the display to curve the standee from left to right. The cardboard piece to the right attaches to the connected pole to fasten the display against a wall. |
