Kenner Star Wars Pen
Kenner's release of their Star Wars toy line was no small event. Coming over 6 months after the release of one of the most popular films of all time, people were clamoring for toy representations of their favorite Star Wars vehicles, environments and characters. And if consumers are clamoring for product, so are retailers. Items like the pen you see here were ordered by Kenner to advertise the fact that they alone among all American companies held the toy license for the mega-hit. The plastic casing reads: "Star Wars. Only By Kenner."

These were probably given out by Kenner at Toy Fair in New York, or a similar event like the Chicago Toy Fair, in 1978 or '79. In a lot of ways, it's similar to the buttons Kenner gave out at around the same time.
