Imitation Talking Yoda Heads
Kenner seems to have messed around with the head for its unproduced Talking Yoda doll quite a bit and several different versions are known to exist. The ones you see here, however, are reproductions. Its possible that someone got their hands on an original mold to this piece, or even that they found a genuine head and made their own mold, and then began producing the reproductions. Andy bought these knowing they were not authentic, so their status as reproductions is undeniable.

Here's a shot of the inside of one of these heads. The material these are made from is quite different from the soft, pliable rubber of the genuine examples; it is much harder and very rigid. What is more, a parting line is evident around the edges of these heads, indicating that they were made from a two-piece mold. All of the Talking Yoda heads I know of lack this parting line, and the one mold I've seen is a one-piece cavity. Of course, the fact that these aren't genuine does not mean that Kenner did not make some Yoda heads out of a harder material. But nevertheless, it's good to know these are out there.
