| This is one of the hardest to find Special Offer premiums that
Kenner ever bundled with their action figure toys. What makes this unique
is that this playset wasn't available any other way except on specially
marked boxes of Slave I vehicles.
It looks similar to the TIE backdrop that came bundled with some Darth Vader TIE Fighters since both backdrops use the same artwork, but upon closer inspection you'll notice that the Slave I backdrop is a cropped version of the one that came bundled with the Darth Vader TIE. This would make sense because the TIE backdrop was issued at least a year before the Slave I backdrop, and the TIE box is bigger. When it came time to issue the Slave I backdrop, Kenner needed to trim the top and bottom of the playset a bit to get it to fit into the box. |
