Luke Jedi/ Darth Vader | |
This is yet another of the
many waves of Mexican bootlegs that have surfaced over the past few years. Recent
months have actually shown many new varieties of bootlegs never before seen
by a good many in the Star Wars community, as well as many variations of known
bootlegs never before seen. This one in particular really makes you look at
it and think "What in the hell were the bootlegers thinking?!?!" It
should be pretty obvious from the pics that this is Darth Vader, well sort of.
It has the body of Luke Jedi and the head of Vader. Perhaps it is an eerie glimpse
at what could have happened had Luke fallen victim to the callings of the Dark
Side, or perhaps the bootlegers only had a Vader head and Luke body lying around.
:^) Here's a close-up and we can really see some of the detailing. The figure is cast all in black and is completely unarticulated. It appears to have some sort of peg on it's back. I can only assume that they had tried to attach a cape but it didn't work or was lost over the years. Perhaps the best part of this Vader is revealed in the close-up, and that's the "hat". It appears that the figure was cast with quite a bit of extra plastic around the helmet. This does not appear to be excess flash but part of the figure. It gives the figure the look of having a straw hat on. We've come to affectionaltely calling this figure "Hayseed Vader". It's quite fitting as Chad himself is no stranger to farms. :^p
Here's a much better close-up of the face mask part. That's one OOGLY Vader. Looks more like a pouting dog than Vader to me. |
