| ROTJ AST-5 Mini-rig Decal Artwork | |
| Pre-production artwork exists in a myriad of forms for collectors to seek out. Photo art for the
Kenner action figure cards and vehicle/playsets represent the most common forms seen in today's
marketplace. This artwork is quite different from the aforementioned examples. The entirely hand
rendered artwork was used in the creation of the decals for the AST-5 mini rig from Kenner's
Return of the Jedi toy series. The first image illustrates the artwork with its clear overlay
present. This overlay features text correllating each sticker to a particular portion of the mini rig
and also contains black line details on various portions of each sticker.
The photo above shows the artwork with the overlay folded back.
Here we see the production toy featuring its production quality decals. The decal artwork served as the original basis for every production AST-5's decals. In light of that its significance becomes increasingly apparent.
Finally, we see a view of the artwork next to the production toy The intricate detail and relevance to the toy itself make this item quite interesting and a real treat to view. |
