The Radar Laser Cannon wasn't a great toy, but at least it was seen in The Empire Strikes Back. Actually, it was seen being blown up in Empire, which is probably why Kenner built a break-apart feature into their toy version of the weapon. On second thought, 2 out of every 3 Kenner Star Wars toys was meant to "explode" in one way or another, so I guess the Radar Laser Cannon wasn't special in that respect.
This was actually the second Radar Laser Cannon toy that Kenner made. The first came packaged in their Hoth Ice Planet playset of 1980. Since it was only about half the size of the individually boxed version, the two items are hard to get mixed up. In the late '90s, Hasbro issued a new rendition of the toy. It differed noticeably from its vintage counterpart.
