1979 Product Concept Binder Page 1 - Star Wars Bicycle Accessories
The first concept details accessories that would be sold to enable a child to transform his/ her bicycle into a Tie Fighter. This is one cool piece. The neck of the bike would have an attachment that is shaped like the Tie Fighter cockpit and the handle bars would come out of the wing slots. The back of the cockpit would have a small LCD display attached to simulate the targetting system in an "actual" Tie Fighter cockpit. The handle bar grips would have a roating throttle attached, much like a motorcycle, to simulate speed. Finally, the handle bars would have a sound effects unit attached. This unit would have a choice of three effects/ sounds:

  • Search Beam (from the lighted cockpit)
  • Laser (also lighted from below cockpit)
  • Ignition (simulated sound of Tie Fighter starting)
  • Apparently, the search beam and ignition sound were supposed to replace the light and horn a child would normally buy. Now can't you all see resident editor Chris Georgoulias tooling around with these handle bars on his bike? ;^)
