Concept Artwork for Death Star Defender Vehicle (ATL Interceptor) | |
Look familiar? This piece of ROTJ concept artwork, showing what was then being called the "Death Star Defender," was later resurrected as the ATL Interceptor, a vehicle from Kenner's Droids line. Lucasfilm actually allowed Kenner to design many of the vehicles that appeared in their Droids cartoon series. In this case, Kenner must have pulled this unused ROTJ design out of storage while they were determining what would be produced for their Droids toy line. The vehicle was then worked into the television show.
The toy is also called the Death Star Defender on its product spec sheet. |
