Concept Models for Preschool Ewoks Toys | |
Virtually no one collects the Preschool line of Ewok toys. But that doesn't mean that these conceptual models of them aren't interesting to see. All of the images on this page are from actual Kenner file photographs, and all display items that were probably hand made in order to help conceptualize the finished products they represent.
First up is the ever-popular Ewok Fire Cart. It's funny that the Ewoks would have a fire cart, because I've actually dreamed of seeing the Ewok Village in flames on several occasions. I don't really expect you to really know what the actual production toy looks like, but, trust me, it's totally different from this prototype. The Fire Cart is accompanied by two figures (also rough conceptual models), which are topped with cutesy fire helmets. Now, I might grant that the Ewoks had a Fire Cart, but do you think they really wore helmets like this? I mean, freakin' Logray--the medicine man of the entire tribe--had to settle for a hat made from a bird's skull, yet these mere fire fighters have spiffy hats.
In this next shot you see the Woodland Cart toy. It too differs considerably from the toy that was eventually produced. As you can see, it comes with yet another conceptual Ewok figure, as well as a prototype of the horsey thing that came with this set. I suspect the weird shrubbery thing was not included with the toy.
Here we have a shot of the horsey and Ewok figures. I think they're engaged in some sort of elaborate mating ritual.
Lastly, this photo shows a group of Ewok figures with their pack animal. |
